Curriculum Vitae

I am thrilled to have opened my new practice here in the Chapel Hill area in 2015 and to be offering Acupuncture & integrated wellness sessions, as well individual lessons in the Alexander Technique. I teach group classes in the Alexander Technique at local institutions, including within the Professional Actors Training Program at UNC Chapel Hill; and am also holding community clinic for Carrboro Community Acupuncture on Saturdays in Carrboro.

Education

I trained to be an Alexander Technique teacher at The American Center for the Alexander Technique, the oldest teacher training in the United States, which meets AmSAT standards including over 1600 hours of concentrated supervised training and teaching over three years. I was trained by senior Alexander teachers including Joan Frost (training director), Barbara Kent, Pearl Ausabel, Judy Stern, Daniel Singer, Brooke Lieb, Cynthia Reynolds, and Judith Lakin. I was also certified by ACAT in Jessica Wolf’s Art of Breathing, an intensive post-certifcation training for Alexander teachers. I attended Pacific College of Oriental Medicine for my Masters Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, a dual degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. My studies included over 3400 hours of clinical and didactic training, and in addition to Chinese Medical classes and adjunct therapies, included a comprehensive foundation in biomedicine, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, orthopedics, research design, and western nutrition. This program also awarded me a second Bachelor’s degree. I received my first Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in 1999, where I focused on Psychology, Anthropology and Theatre and studied abroad with the School of International Training and at Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts, in Kingston, Jamaica. I am also certified in Chinese Dietary therapy, a 100 hour training with Jeffrey Yuen, a daoist master whose lineage of Classical Chinese Medicine is taught throughout the United States.

Credentials

I am a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and hold a License in Acupuncture from the state of North Carolina (#820).  I am a member teacher of the American Society of the Alexander Technique, the American Center for the Alexander Technique. I hold certification from the National Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Acupuncturists.  Additionally I hold a Clean Needle Technique certification from the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
